Miracle Miles for Kids is a fundraiser created by the Family Care Network to provide private funding to further support those most in need living in our community. By partnering with us for Miracle Miles for Kids through the generous act of collecting pledges, you are providing foster and high-needs children and families a link to their community; you are communicating to them that their needs are important. You may not be able to personally assist those in need, but through pledging for Miracle Miles for Kids, you have the unique opportunity to be a part of the miracle!

Basic program funding sources are often very limited in scope and do not allow the Family Care Network to fully meet the varying needs of the children, youth and families we serve. Thus, the organization is committed to developing community-based resources to further fulfill our mission.

The Family Care Network is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, private children and families services provider located on the Central Coast. Established in 1987 to provide family-based treatment services, the agency’s programs have grown to serve over 1,300 foster and high-needs children, youth and families annually in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. On February 1, 2006, the agency was formally accredited through the California Alliance of Child and Family Services, being recognized for having met the highest industry standards of excellence as a foster family agency, family-based services provider and mental health services provider. The Family Care Network is the first agency of its kind to earn this high level of accreditation on the Central Coast.

11 years ago, life changed when I passed a young, soon to be mother while walking down the street. Within 48 hours she would ask my wife and I to adopt her child. At that moment, I began to learn the plight of children languishing in foster care. My wife and I would later adopt two more children from the foster care system.

There are 500,000 children in foster care in our country. 20% of them are in the State of California. Many of them are available for adoption. All of them are in need of a stable home and a good family to care for them.

Each year I participate in a fundraiser to help support kids in foster care. This year's event is called the Miracle Miles for Kids and it's held on the Central Coast this Saturday, May 7th.

I hope that you will consider sponsoring me and supporting these kids. Thanks
